Frequently Asked Questions
How does performing jobs for Ensite work?
Ensite assigns you site survey jobs within your preferred work areas. Each job includes instructions and requirements, and you’re paid for completing each survey accurately and on time. You have the flexibility to accept or decline assignments based on your availability.
How much can I earn working for Ensite?
Earnings vary depending on the number of surveys you complete, the location, and the complexity of each job. Ensite offers competitive per-job rates, and technicians who handle higher volumes of jobs can increase their earnings significantly. Standard residential jobs pay in between $75-$120 on average.
What tools and equipment do I need to be an Ensite tech?
To complete site surveys, you’ll need a reliable smartphone, a ladder for rooftop access, a tape measure, a pitch meter, a screwdriver set, and a flashlight or headlamp. Some surveys may require additional equipment, like a fish or luggage scale for tile weight, which Ensite can provide guidance on.
Do I need to have a drone?
A drone is not required but can be a valuable tool to help you capture aerial views and inspect hard-to-reach areas. If you have drone experience, it may increase your eligibility for some drone-specific jobs.
What are the vehicle requirements for becoming an Ensite tech?
Ensite technicians must have access to a reliable vehicle to travel to job sites. Your vehicle should be able to transport necessary equipment, such as a ladder, and be suitable for frequent travel to various locations within your preferred work area. It should also be presentable and not off-putting to homeowners.
How can I check my onboarding status?
You can check your onboarding progress at the top of this page by entering your phone number and email, then clicking “Go.”
Do I need experience to become an Ensite tech?
Experience specific to the solar industry is not necessarily required, but will allow for faster onboarding. If you come from a similar hands-on background such as a field technician or in construction, it’s likely you possess the necessary skills to complete Ensite jobs. As a part of the onboarding process, you will complete a “mock” survey on a home of your choosing (your own or a friend/family members), which will be reviewed by our QC team.
What sets Ensite apart from other gig economy work?
Unlike other gig jobs, Ensite focuses primarily on solar site surveys, providing a specialized service that requires and rewards attention to detail and professionalism. Because of this, the potential earnings per your time invested is much higher than non-skilled labor like Lyft, Uber, Doordash, or Instacart.
